Various Types of Sleeping Furniture

What are the different options you have when you’re going out to buy a sleeper sofa? This article will explore some of the more intriguing offerings, with a bent for the modern.

First up, let’s take a look at the Largo Modern Sofa Bed. This beauty retails for a little over $1,000, and doesn’t look like it’s worth one penny less than that. This piece shares some basic elements with the futon: it is a one-piece that requires no throwing cushions off of it. Simply bend it back and you’ve got a very stylish bed. When it is upright it looks like a high-tech modern couch, something you would see in a ritzy New York City apartment. Very hip.

The Largo’s frame comes in black and grey, and is very understated with only four short slightly-curved legs showing themselves at the four corners of this sleeper sofa. The actual mattress cover comes in microfiber in four different colors: brown, green, “sand”, and black. The one I have seen is the sand-colored and it looks very nice. Overall I would categorize this piece of furniture as being pretty minimalistic.

Another piece by Innovation is the Puzzle Contemporary Sleeper Sofa, which is quite wild looking. It goes for a little bit less than the Largo. This wacky couch-bed comes in a super funky white and black pattern with lots of circles and squares all over it, or the same design can be had in two shades of orange. You have to be very bold to pull this one off. It’s probably being aimed at the younger in their 20’s crowd is my guess.

The Puzzle uses a pocket spring mattress to support its adherents and give them a nice comfy sit or sleep. And as always it solves that age-old problem of where to put your friends or relatives when they are staying over. It really seems like the type of piece that belongs in an apartment.

Now this is just a profile of two very prominent Innovation versions of a sleep sofa. Over the last ten or twenty years hundreds and hundreds of models have popped up from all over the place. You can get bizarre patterned ones and I’m sure somewhere you can probably still get something close to the old-fashioned initial version type. So basically the evolution of this product has taken it from pure practicality (if a bit heavy) to a lighter and much more feature-friendly (even stylish as we have seen here) sleeper.
